Shariff Kabunsuan Festival 2022

Myludovicos | Shariff Kabunsuan Festival 2022 Formally Opens | The celebration of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival for the year 2022 with the theme: “One Heritage, One Culture, Endless Possibilities” was formally opened recently, held at the Cotabato State University (CotSU) Grandstand, Sinsuat Avenue, Cotabato City.

In the message delivered by Cotabato City Mayor “Para sa Lahat” Mohammad Ali “Bruce” Dela Cruz Matabalao, he shared that even before he became mayor of the city, he was looking forward to the good relationship and collaboration of the city government and the Bangsamoro in these kinds of celebrations.

“Sa totoo lang po, before I became City Mayor of Cotabato, I have been very hopeful to see two governments work together hand in hand to celebrate our identity and our heritage that co-existed peacefully, economically, political and even culturally with our highlander neighbours”. In the message delivered by Vice Mayor Butch Abu, he was proud that the celebration of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival is celebrated not only by Muslims, but also by Christians and Lumads.

The centerpiece of the opening of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival was the colorful and fancy “Kuyog” Showcase Competition attended by various participants from different places in Mindanao.

The contender from Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte won the 2nd runner-up and received Php 150,000, the 1st runner-up from Isulan, Sultan Kudarat Province and received Php 250,000, and Tulunan, North Cotabato and took home Php 350,000.

Those who were not lucky enough, took home a consolation prize worth Php 50,000. Along with the said celebration, one of the good news delivered by Mayor Matabalao is that the Local Government (MILG-BARMM) has signed infrastructure projects from the Ministry of Interior ).

In conjunction with the five-day celebration of the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival 2022, the Agri Trade Fair has opened at the Cotabato City Plaza.

“The celebration of Shariff Kabunsuan was so beautiful because for the first time there was a collaboration between the City Government and the Bangsamoro Government” this was the message of Mayor “Para sa Lahat” Bruce Matabalao.

Its purpose is to showcase businesses and products that are proud not only of Cotabato City, but also of the Bangsamoro region. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MFAR) presented here the delicacies from different corners of BARMM. The Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT) and Negosyo Center Cotabato City also participated in showcasing products in the said event.

It also includes the products of various cooperatives such as inaul bags, herbal medicines, vegetables and fruits from local farms and many others.

Along with the formal opening of activities for the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival 2022 celebration, SK Bazaar was also opened to the public. Delicious food, clothing and many other products at the SK Bazaar.

Everyone is invited to visit the SK Bazaar located on the ground floor of the Citymall of Cotabato. It will last from December 15-21, 2022.

The lavish and colorful celebration of SK Fest 2022 was carried out in collaboration with the local government of the city and the Bangsamoro Government.
